A couple weeks ago it was our son’s 8th birthday! He wanted a Star Wars themed party to celebrate with his friends.
We decided to have a Star Wars birthday party in a park close by. I am so thankful that though it has been only a year since we moved to Spain, our boy has already so many dear friends.
The pool noodle lightsaber was a big hit! The kids loved it! They were all running after each other with a big smile on their faces. I was only able to find a red pool noodle though. It’d have been cooler if we had at least two colors to represent the two forces, but nonetheless they kids still had a blast.
The set up was pretty simple. I had one table for the food, one for the cake and for the goodie bags, one box for the gifts, and one for the lightsaber.
I discovered that it is not common here in Aguilas to have birthday parties in the park. Some of the parents mentioned how they enjoyed it.
We had sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, m&ms, cookies, and a friend made us crepes that were delicious.
As I was snapping some pics throughout the party, I was so grateful for what we have here. For all the people God brought into our lives. Grateful that our kids not only are enjoying living in Spain but have made good friends.
Nicholas was so happy! Before planning the party, I asked him if he would like to have a big party with his friends or a small celebration in the house and a nice gift from us. We were planning on giving him a bike. He wanted a party. Even though I told him he wouldn’t get a bike he still chose the party. For him it was much more valuable the precious time spent with all his friends.
I made the cake 🙂 He asked me for a chocolate strawberry cake. I was thinking about buying one but since he asked me to bake it I thought it’d be special for him. To be honest, I didn’t want to spent much time decorating it though so to make a Star Wars cake I used his Darth Vader figure with some stars as topping. He helped me and liked it.
After the cake, it was time to open the gifts. I love these pics. You can totally see the joy and surprise on his face.
The more gifts he opened the closer the kids got lol
They were all curious to see.
At the end of this Star Wars birthday party we were all tired. Especially the kids from “fighting” with their lightsaber. The parents told me the kids really enjoyed it and they weren’t even a hassle to sleep as usually they are hahahahaha. And seeing Nicholas’ face at the end of the day as he contemplated how much fun he had on his birthday made it all worth it.
Happy birthday, meu tesouro! I love you to the moon and back and a 1000 times again.
